Southeastern Railway announce plans to increase peak-time service from Beckenham Junction to Blackfriars
MP Bob Stewart, councillors and local residents all opposed the cutting of services by Thameslink
Southeastern Railway have announced plans to increase train frequency on the Beckenham Junction to Blackfriars service.
The proposal is contained within the draft Southeastern timetable for May 2018, with the current operator Govia Thameslink Railway, no longer operating these services as part of the Thameslink upgrade programme.
Colin Smith, Bromley executive councillor for Environment, said: “Community residents in Beckenham, Kent House, and Penge East, know just how vital frequent and reliable train services are and this Southeastern proposal is very positive news indeed. Top marks to them.
“I am delighted for all concerned that they have been able to take over the service and increase the frequency of peak hour trains between Beckenham Juncion to Blackfriars, which will obvioulsy improve travelling conditions for all those who use the line as well.
“It is strategically essential to maintain strong and reliable connections between central London and Beckenham and indded acorss the borough more widely. Such connectivitiy also serves to underpin what a great place Bromley is to live, work and relax in.”
