We’ve been reading a lot of posts on local face book pages & other local forums about Scooters & Motorbikes getting stolen.
My Partner had his Scooter’s lock hacked into last night but thankfully he uses a heavy duty padlock & chain so they only managed to ruin the lock & the bike was safe.
We hear one of the reasons the bike crime rate has gone up is because the police aren’t allowed to chase them, in case they cause an accident, especially as quite often they’re not wearing a helmet. It also seems they are stealing the bikes to then use to steal mobile phones out of your hands and handbags of your shoulders so please be vigilant.
I also read on Nextdoor that apparently there are 23 police men & women covering the Bromley borough, which is due to cuts because of funding.
We have a couple of counsellors that have registered on the Beckeham Forum & we also attend local business & resident meetings where we will bring this matter to their attention, however please make sure you do report all crimes, no matter how small or petty it may seem, otherwise the limited resources we have will only reduce down further.
In the meantime stay safe and there are a few top tips for preventing scooter thefts.

What?
Founded in October 2016, the Beckenham Forum is an online meeting place for the residents of Beckenham to share their knowledge and experiences of life in the area.
Who?
The Beckenham Forum is not a faceless franchise based in California, we are a local couple living in Village Way, Beckenham.
Why?
We created the forum because we believe that being part of a community makes living somewhere much more enjoyable. An online community is something you can use where and when you want to.
