Beckenham House Hunting – Best Areas

Have you seen the thread on Ravenscroft/Birkbeck Roads?

It depends on your budget, of course. The area you’re looking at is good for public transport, what with the tram and two separate railway lines (each now with 4 trains an hour in the evenings!) as well as buses. Seems a reasonable enough area, although Clock House is perhaps a little "rougher" than smarter parts of Beckenham, but I wouldn’t have thought anything to worry about. I regularly used to walk between Beckenham Road and Elmers End Road after dark without feeling particularly worried (if you’re a car driver the one-way system is a pain, though!) Would avoid Blandford Road if you have a car (and for that matter the un-made-up roads around Kent House station!).

Personally speaking I wouldn’t be looking here (a bit in the middle of nowhere and right next to Sedgehill) – you are better off sticking to your original search areas, or the roads surrounding Croydon Rec area, Whitmore, Bramerton, Cromwell etc Within walking distance of the Swimming pool / cinema / stations / high street. Such a personal view though – good luck with your house hunting.

Hi there,

We are currently house hunting in Beckenham. We have mainly been focusing on properties close to Clock House/Kent House but have seen a few properties come on in the above area.

I’d be grateful if anyone has any experience of this area they can share – safe neighbourhood, local amenities etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
