An up Date on the Chinese Garage proposal below……
It was a sneaked in Tesco planning application for the Chinese Garage – now proposal is Tesco and Majestic wine (Pets at Home was originally proposed) with all the late hours that entails for deliveries and customers!
And huge survival risk to our local smaller shops at Wickham road.
please go onto http://www.bromley.gov.uk/planningaccess and search ref 17/03273/RECON and register your name and address and objection online before bromley sneak this through.
We have until 31 August to collect objections online from anyone local we can.
Please go online and state your objection asap. Thank you ?
The Chinese Garage In Beckenham – I thought this was interesting.
The garage was built in 1928 to a design by Edmund B. Clarke in the style of a Japanese pagoda on land adjoining Stone Park Farm which was part of the Langley Court Estate.
In this footage "a smartly dressed man in uniform opens a car door at the entrance. He salutes as a glamorous young woman gets out of the car. He dispenses petrol from an extravagant petrol pump. Shot of the petrol station’s gardens. The woman wanders around the garden. There is a small bridge and a pond with water lilies. The woman poses on the bridge then skips back to her car and drives off."

News from near Kelsey Park/ Stone Park Ave end – the garage currently sited where the original petrol garage from the 30’s was situated will be changed later this year. Sold to – apparently – Pets At Home (facing on the side by Stone Park Ave) and Majestic Wine Warehouse on the side facing South Eden park road (where customer parking will be). Also the 2 existing flats will be refurbished. Details on the Bromley planning permission website but they also posted info to local houses. The Chinese Garage is a listed building so will be refurbished sympathetically – should hopefully be nice. The Kia garage will still exist across the road near the small area of shops and Sponge Kitchen etc.
